SYNOPSIS:
AkashA, the all-Malaysian band that took the Rainforest World Music Festival 2008 by storm, presents a fusion of diverse music genres, woven together with a magical thread of ethnic acoustic instruments from around the globe.
Imagine the fusion of a Sitar with guitar, tabla with djembe, mridangam played to bass guitar, jazz piano... Indian Raga style. Irish Riverdance with a hint of American blues, and is that a Malaysian Joget we hear? ‘Konnukol’ or voice percussion laid on a Spanish plateau... what more lies in store?
The connection and seamless bonding of Eastern and Western instruments and world genres present itself in AkashA’s debut performance in Kuala Lumpur, into... AkashA.
It will take the listener deep into sublime musical bliss... deep into AkashA. The upcoming performance is in conjunction with the launch of its debut CD album.
