Dragon Ball Evolution Can Kiss My A**!

Call me crazy but as a person who is living his childhood around Dragon Ball, I must say that the movie was a total nightmare. I am a huge fan of the comic since I was 11 year old and it was one of the first comic collections. I heard many bad rumors surrounding the movie from many die-hard-fans when it came out few weeks ago so I have decided not to watch it on the cinema.

The reason was simple, if the movie is a total ripoff, why should I pay money to watch it. It's like encouraging them to come and produce more crappy movie. Because of that, I waited for the first "clear-view" R5 copy of the movie to download.

I really opposed the idea of using a "white boy" in the movie instead of looking for a Japanese look actor. I'm not being racist here but the lead actor, Justin Chatwin really doesn't suit the character. He looked too cocky, too old for a little Goku, too horny for a supposedly "pure" boy and ego-maniac type of guy.

And don't get me started on the storyline. I agree that it is impossible to recreate everything from the comic but the fact that Goku went to high school is unacceptable. And Chi Chi is a high school prom queen and she's with a jerk. Not making any sense at all. It's not like she couldn't fight at all and the jerk not even good-looking.

Another thing, where the hell did Piccolo got a hot assistant?

And Chow Yun-Fat don't even bother to shave his head for Master Roshi part. Where's his turtle, his famous black spectacle, cane and turtle shell behind his back? The reason I couldn't accept it is simply because it's not something impossible to do like to recreate Piccolo.

One of the funniest part in the movie is during Goku's training. They replace the turtle shell with a bunch bags tied to a net.

To be honest, before I watch the movie, I really put my expectation really low because I don't want to be too disappointed after watching it. Even with that, I must say, there is no word in the world that could express my feeling how much I hated the movie. I'm surely just saving RM10 by not watching it on the cinema.

I heard many kids enjoying the movie which is absolutely understandable considering that they don't read the comic but I bet most of us especially born in 80's must be devastated watching another movie being destroyed by Hollywood producers.

CAST
Dr. Bunhead (aka Tom Pringle) has worked professionally as a freelance science communicator since 1996, developing and broadening both public understanding and enthusiasm for science, bringing it out of laboratories and into classrooms, theatres and TV. He has written and presented material for BBC, ITV, Discovery, Disney, New Zealand TV and a few more Dr Bunhead - picturenotwellenough known to impress anyone.

He writes and presents educational material, for primary through to post-grad level, for many organisations such as The British Council, Royal Institution, BBC and BP.

The Bun has delivered over 1,000 shows at more than 400 venues worldwide (UK, Brazil, New Zealand, Australia, America), with sell out performances at Edinburgh Festival Fringe, science festivals, arts festivals, theatres, arts centres, pubs... (you name it).

For older audiences he provides seminars in creative approaches to communicating complex ideas (not just science) in addition to In-Service training for teachers. He also does adults-only shows, like "The Filthiest Show on Earth" and "The Chemistry of Love & Lust" (extracts of which were shown on Discovery Channel's 'The Sex Files').
When he's not working too hard, he goes rock-climbing and cycling (but not at the same time). He likes milk but no sugar, and a couple of biscuits would be nice (preferably chocolate).

SYNOPSIS

“Artistically brilliant, absolutely hilarious”
- New York Post

“Made us laugh until the tears flowed”
- London Daily Telegraph

“Brilliant dancers, beautiful choreography, stunning costumes & sets”
- New York Observer

Direct from a sell-out tour of Europe and Asia, comes the most spectacular, talented and hilarious all male comedy ballet ever. Hailed by critics as “The greatest exponents of all male comedy ballet in the world today”, international company Les Ballets Grandiva is set to arrive in Malaysia in May 2009.

Men in Tutus - picThe largest company of its kind in the world, Grandiva boasts over fifty ballets in its repertoire and twenty of the best international male ballet dancers from thirteen countries whose soloists have performed with Russia's Bolshoi and Kirov Ballets, New York Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet, The American Ballet Theatre, the prestigious Royal Ballet, The National Ballet of Canada, The Royal Swedish Ballet, Berlin State Opera Ballet, English National Ballet, Royal Danish Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, Hong Kong Ballet to name a few.

Men in Tutus - picGrandiva's "Men In Tutus" is the ultimate send up of both classical and contemporary ballet. The combination of brilliant dancing technique, tongue in cheek and blatant humour with intentional foibles, dancing mishaps and of course hissy fits by men playing both male and female roles (some of the men do actually look like gorgeous women, while others are hairy chested men with pancake makeup but all in tutus and dancing en pointe.) creates great entertainment that prompted the quotes below (see reviews).
